I'm trying to avoid meat today, but all I have is canned tuna? Any good (simple) recipes using tuna?

I can obviously just eat salad or make a simple sandwich...but I want to go the distance on this one.I'm trying to avoid meat today, but all I have is canned tuna? Any good (simple) recipes using tuna?
Chicken of the Sea Tuna Pot Pie

Ingredients


1 can (12 oz.) Chicken of the Sea? Solid White Albacore or Chunk Light Tuna, drained and flaked


1 cup water


1 cube chicken-flavored bouillon


1 cup frozen vegetables


1 cup milk


2 Tablespoon cornstarch


1/2 to 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese


1 can (8 oz.) refrigerated crescent roll dough








Directions


In medium saucepan, combine water, vegetables and bouillon. Bring to a boil; cook for two minutes over medium heat. Dissolve cornstarch in milk; stir into vegetables and cook until thickened. Stir in tuna and cheese. Spoon mixture into four (1 to 1 1/2 cups) individual pie pans or casserole dishes. Separate crescent dough into four rectangles; cut each rectangle into six strips. Firmly press topping, crisscrossing six dough strips over each potpie; trim excess dough. Bake pies at 375?F for 15 to 20 minutes. Makes 4 servings.

Layered Tuna Casserole

Ingredients


3 cups Wide egg noodles, uncooked


6 oz. Chicken of the Sea庐 Solid White Albacore Tuna in Spring Water


8 oz. Water chestnuts, drained %26amp; sliced


1/2 cup Celery, chopped


1/3 cup Green onions, sliced


1/2 cup Mayonnaise


1/2 cup Sour cream


1/2 teaspoon Salt


1 cup Zucchini, sliced


1 cup Monterey jack cheese, shredded


3 slices Fresh tomatoes


1 teaspoon Thyme








Directions


1. Cook noodles to desired doneness as directed on package.


2. Drain, rinse with hot water.


3. Heat oven to 350 degrees.


4. Grease 2 qt casserole.


5. In large bowl, combine noodles, tuna, water chestnuts, celery, onions, mayo, sour cream, thyme and salt.


6. Spoon half of tuna mixture into prepared casserole; top with 1/2 cup sliced zucchini.


7. Repeat layers.


8. Arrange tomato slices on top of casserole; sprinkle with cheese.


9. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until hot and bubbly.


Serves: 4-6

Main Meal Tuna Topper

Ingredients


1/2 cup Chopped onion


1/2 lb. Fresh mushrooms, cleaned and sliced


2 Tablespoons Unsalted butter or margarine


9 oz. Frozen French style green beans, thawed


3 Tablespoons All purpose flour


1/2 teaspoon Sugar


1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder


1/8 teaspoon Ground black pepper


Dash ground nutmeg


1 cup Milk


8 oz. Dairy sour cream


6 oz. Chicken of the Sea庐 Chunk Light Tuna - 50% Less Salt


1 Tablespoon Sherry


4 medium Baked potatoes








Directions


1. In large skillet saut? onion and mushrooms in butter 2 minutes.


2. Add thawed green beans.


3. Saut? 4 minutes or until onion is tender.


4. In small bowl combine flour, sugar, garlic powder, pepper and nutmeg.


5. Sprinkle over vegetables.


6. Mix until dry ingredients are moistened.


7. Stir in milk, sour cream and tuna.


8. Heat and stir over medium heat until mixture just comes to a boil.


9. Remove from heat.


10. Stir in sherry .


11. Serve over split baked potatoes.

You can either do a tuna melt - or do tuna and noodles- which is macaroni and cheese with tuna- Make sure you put the tuna in AFTER the mac and cheese is thoroughly mixed in- and then add a little garlic salt and lemon pepper and it's a simple, but pretty tasty meal and will fill you up.
I've always liked making tuna salad and putting crunched up potato chips in there lol call me weird but it tastes awesome!

Just add some mayo, chopped tomatoes, and onions. Add a splash of lime or lemon juice to taste as well as some salt and pepper. Then you can enjoy your tuna with crackers or bread.
I like tuna fish mixed in with mac %26amp; cheese and a little crushed red pepper flakes, and add some frozen peas at the end.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but tuna IS meat.
I dislike tuna as a general rule, but this is pretty good:





cook some spaghetti noodles (or pene)


let them cool down, add the tuna, mayo (to taste), some cut up hardboiled eggs (only one or two) and some green olives cut into slices.


serve cold.





my mom used to make this for us all the time when we were little.
Make tuna salad (add a little mayo or salad dressing %26amp; seasonings). Spread on bread and top with cheese. Broil until the cheese starts melting.





Italians classically use tuna in a tomato pasta sauce. Add the can to your favorite spagetti sauce.





Of course, tuna noodle cassarole in it's various forms must be mentioned.
Tuna cakes are great. You make them just like crab cakes. Sorry I dont have the time to find or type up the recipe but you can find one at foodtv.com
Mmm, I just made this recipe (no meat today) and it is fun and interesting. I added chopped apples to the tuna salad.





Oh, and for those that felt otherwise, tuna is fish, which isn't considered ';meat'; by most standards. Vegans and various types of vegetarians choose to avoid one or all of the 3 categories of meat, poultry or fish. For religious purposes, fish and seafood are ok on non-meat days. Just an FYI.





French Toast Tuna Sandwiches


1 can (7 ounces) tuna, flaked


1/3 cup finely chopped celery


1/4 cup mayonnaise


2 teaspoons lemon juice


1/8 teaspoon salt


dash pepper


8 slices bread


2 eggs


1/2 teaspoon salt


1/2 cup milk


3 to 4 tablespoons butter





Combine the tuna, celery, mayonnaise, lemon juice, 1/8 teaspoon salt, and dash of pepper. Spread tuna mixture on 4 slices of the bread. Cover with remaining 4 slices of bread then cut in half diagonally.


In a bowl, whisk eggs with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 cup milk. Dip sandwich halves in the egg mixture then cook in hot butter until nicely browned on both sides.


Serves 4.
I may be going out on a limb here..tuna is meat..just from a fish..right?
